“Today is about police injustice and [bringing] awareness to it,” explains Lou Harris, the founder of the East Coast Chapter of the Black Surfing Association. “It’s unbelievable. It’s black, it’s white, it’s Asian, Puerto Rican. It’s a giant melting pot of the surf community, and it doesn’t matter what color you are, who you are. They’re here for one cause: to shed light what’s going on in America, in a peaceful, positive way.”
